60 minutes to make some changes

Yesterday was “Earth Hour” day. The idea was for 60 minutes, between 8 and 9 pm, to turn off all the lights. So we did it.

Apparently, we were the only ones in the neighborhood or at least around here to have our lights off, except for the empty houses for sale. We had a candle on and it reminded me the many nights I spent with my family in a similar position but very involuntary because it would be coming from the power company directly.

Anyway, I don’t know how successful this campaign was, but let’s try and make it for next year’s edition? More info can be found here.

2 more months

Eek! I just realized my son will be born in exactly 2 months! And there is no panic on either side. I guess things will get more frantic in 6 weeks or so…

An Irish joke

 Stolen from Kate:

Some years ago, Stan married an attractive woman, Marilyn, half his age, in a small Irish community.
After several months, Marilyn complained that she had never climaxed during sex and according to her Grandmother, all Irish women are entitled to a climax once in a while. So, to resolve the problem, they went to see the Veterinarian since there was no trustworthy doctor anywhere in their village.
The Vet didn’t have a clue, but he did recall how, during the hot summer, his Mother and Father would fan a cow that was having difficulty breeding, with a big towel. This would cool her down and make her relax.
So the Vet told them to hire a strong, virile, young man to wave a big towel over them while they were having sex. This, the Vet said, would cause the young wife to cool down and relax.
So the couple hired a strong young man from the next village to wave that big towel over them as the Vet suggested. After many efforts, Marilyn still had not climaxed so they went back to the Vet. The Vet said for Marilyn to change partners and let the young man have sex with her while Stan waved the big towel.
They tried it that night and Marilyn went into wild, screaming, ear-splitting climaxes, one right after the other for about two and a half hours!
When it was over, Stan looked down at the exhausted young man and in a boasting voice said: ‘And that, my son, is how you wave a towel!’

I am speechless…

Since yesterday, yet another sex scandal is rocking our puritan world. Eliot Spitzer was found to be involved in a prostitution ring. It would be another sordid story but it so happens that Mr. Spitzer is the governor of the state of New York and was supposed to be a “Mr. Clean”, getting his state rid of all the ills that are corrupting the law-abiding citizens of his state.

Dr. Laura, the infamous radio-host is someone I loathed since the very first time I saw her on TV many years ago. I would hear her voice or see her face and I would immediately switch channels or stations. Yet when naked pictures of her were released, I was pretty shocked to see how human she was after all. And this, makes sense after all:

Temptations…

Following my spat from a couple of days ago, I have been getting comments at my old house. Of course, those who did leave a message are my friends who keep an eye on me and who curse me when I stay silent here when they have to come all the way from over there to see how I am doing.

I still don’t quite feel the old blogging bug biting me anymore, but it is still nice to write a little and still have some feedback. It is a little deceptive that I still have not found a niche here, even though I have “pressed” a few interesting blogs. I knew anyway I would not have the same success here.

So I have been tempted to write another post. Over there. Yes.

Too bad I can’t merge both places…

Is there a doctor in the house?

Way before the flu season, all the employees at work had to get a flu shot. Prior to that, I never had one because I always believed I was strong enough to get through the season without any protection but also because I always thought there would be someone more in the need for a shot than myself.

Today, I left home a little under the weather, blaming the time change and the little sleep I had the night before plus the fact it was a Monday morning but I knew it was a little more than just that. By the time I made it through the jungle of traffic and finally to my desk, I knew the day would be a tough one. I have spent my day sneezing, aching with a sore throat and pressure in my sinuses and head. I would gladly stay home tomorrow but I have too much to do, made too many promises and need the day off next week for my daughter’s Graduation Day. She has been working pretty hard for the ceremony and is expecting me to be there with the video camera, so there is no question to disappoint her here.

I would have nevertheless loved to be able to just spend the whole day sleeping…

What’s the use?

What is the use of spending hours in front of the TV, watching all the FoodTV shows and still not being able to cook?

Huh?
