You have to love Facebook

I have been looking for old friends on Facebook lately and I’ve been delighted to find some people I lost touch with them for various reasons.

A few minutes ago, I was checking the page of a girl I was courting before meeting the SU. I found her a few weeks ago and the pictures she had on her page were of her children. Tonight, she updated her page with new pictures and I was rather shocked to see her today. Ok, it’s been 11 years but please!

Have you gone looking for old flames on Facebook? Have you found them? Are they better or worse looking now? Just being curious. ;-)

Beats me

So, let me see if I get this right. Dr. George Tiller was killed today because he had an abortion clinic and would perform late-term abortions. He had been shot in the past and his clinic bombed, so he obviously had some people hating his guts and most definitely the pro-life people. But the same so-called pro-life people do not see anything wrong in taking away a life. That is not pro-life to me, if you ask me.

What a wonderful world we live in.

Karma, better believe in it!

This morning, as I was going to tackle my cases for the day, I was paged to go take care of an emergency. When I looked at who called, I could not help but laugh out loud. The same user who got me in trouble a few weeks ago was having issues and could not work. I went to her office, ready to face any eventuality and could not help notice how nice they were to me. I personally took care of the matter and left but there was this feeling of utter joy I was feeling. And actually, that joy carried me through my work day!

Daydreaming

One of my favorite part of the day is when I have 2 minutes to “poke” Jay via e-mail. I asked her what she would like to have at that precise moment and her answer was: “A beer, a lounge chair and a sunny warm beach”. My answer to the same question was “2 weeks off,  a ticket to somewhere and plenty of relaxing time”. In fact, I was thinking about this place:

Orient Bay
Orient Bay, St. Maarten, N.A.

I spent some wonderful days there roasting in the sun, having lobster for lunch and having fun.

So I’ll just keep dreaming about Orient Bay for now…

A year and a almost week

The Birthday Boy

The Birthday Boy

Things have been so cahotic lately that I don’t even see days go by. Just a short week ago, my son celebrated his first birthday. We all were excited because it was such a milestone in his life. And it was more than we expected because not only he has 6 teeth in his mouth, but he also decided that day was the best day to show everybody present that he could walk too!

And one funny fact. The SU ordered the cake and when she went to pick it up, they gave her a smaller cake just because it was the baby’s first birthday! It was a very nice gesture although there is still cake remaining from the first one and the second one sits untouched in the fridge for now.

Now I have to see what are we going to do for his sister since her birthday is only a little over 2 months away…

I also think it might be time for a change

Rev. Alberto Cutié is a Catholic priest in Miami who is in the middle of a scandal. “Father Oprah” as he is called by many was caught hugging and kissing a woman on a beach.  The local press had their story of the year and the cavorting man of church had to come clean to the great dismay of all his parishioners and the Archdiocese of Miami.

Today, Father Cutié announced he was leaving the Catholic church to pursue the priesthood in the Episcopal Church so he could marry his 2-year old girlfriend.

To become a priest, he took the vow of celibacy but could not resist temptation and his human instincts. Here’s a grown man with a grown woman, having a heterosexual relationship and this man is treated like he was the vilest man on earth, having to switch religions so he could have a normal and decent life.

In the meantime, hundreds of priest have abused thousands of kids and they are still roaming free like the wind. The have destroyed lives and one priest even had the audacity to say:

We all considered sexual abuse of minors as a moral evil, but had no understanding of its criminal nature.”

Pretty lame as an excuse, isn’t it?

And the best one:

Accepted naively the common view that it was not necessary to worry about the effects on the youngsters: either they would not remember or they would ‘grow out of it’.”

And then people wonder why it is harder for people to go to church and believe in something.

Good luck, Father Cutié.

Snicker

It is incredible how a toad born with the morning’s dew thinks that it can fool an old dog.

“Silly rabbit, Trix are for kids…”

Head banging

You know what has to be one of the most frustrating things? Seeing someone you love hurting and not being able to do a thing to help them out.

It sucks big time.

They say the grass blah, blah, blah…

Earlier this week, I was on my way home from work and I was listening to the radio. A man in his early 50s had taken care of his 19-year old daughter for the past 14 years and was ready now to finally start dating. He was saying that his next-door neighbor was a great woman and they got along very well, but he did not see himself date her because they she is the same age he is and because he is looking for a younger woman. The talk-show host made him understand that he was looking for a younger woman to kind of catch up with his 30s but it was not the wise choice because of what a younger woman would want in return. I did feel a little sorry for him, although he did what he had to do, take care of his young daughter by himself, but hearing his story made me smile.

The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.

I know. Been there, done that.

I hope he did listen to the talk-show host and asked his neighbor out…
