Same principle, different venue

There was a time not so long ago where I would go and spend a few hours in Panera to have breakfast and blog in peace. The few past weekends there was always something planned with the family and it was nice being out with the kids but the volcano started to brew again and I needed to get away from it all.

I went to Panera, but I got caught up with Lore, Vince’s wife. They are going to be in town tomorrow night but we won’t get to do much since they’ll be flying in late and leaving the very next morning since Vince has a conference in Orlando. Hopefully we’ll be able to spend a little more time together before they leave on Friday. Anyway, being in Panera was becoming a pain since it was wicked cold in there and I was wearing a sweater! I was a little disappointed since I didn’t want to be driving around. It is somewhat peculiar since I took a camera to supposedly take pictures but it is not going to happen.

I ended up in CompUSA. To many, they would be surprised since the company went bankrupt last year. Well, they were bought by TigerDirect and they have opened a few stores around and one being in my neighborhood. I was looking for memory for my notepad and was happy to have found some, although I wonder if I should have looked on the Net before buying it. Nevertheless, I have my 2GB and I’ll be installing it as soon as I get home.

I didn’t want to go home, so I ended up in Starbucks. It is not cold, I got my favorite table and I even got a free Vanilla Bean Frappuccino! I guess they got someone’s order wrong and instead of throwing it away in the garbage, they gave it away. But the thing with Starbucks is that WiFi is supposed limited to 2 hours per client. I’ve never been here that long so I don’t know if I’ll just be kicked off or if I’ll be able to keep going on.

Besides that, nothing new in the ‘hood. Thanksgiving is less than a couple of weeks away and I will be on call that week. Doesn’t matter much since I decided not to do any cooking this year. I’m tired of spending so much time in the kitchen preparing all the food and nobody eating in the end. And I plan to do my Christmas shopping on Black Friday the same way I did it last year, meaning in the comfort of my home with my laptop. Hard times obliging, gifts this year will not be as fancy as last year’s. To begin with, I don’t see what I would like besides the Sony Reader Pocket Edition™ and even that I am not sure about it.

The consensus has been that Christmas morning is spent home. Traveling can happen the same day or later but waking up and going downstairs to open the presents is something I have imposed and will not change my mind about that. That said, nothing has ever been said about New Year’s but it seemed that we would be together to bring in the new year. Not this time. The SU is leaving with the kids on the 26th of December and will be back on January 2nd. I’ll be bringing in 2010 all by myself. Does that mean that I am destined to be alone all year?

One of the funny things that has been happening to me lately is having so many people from my past popping up in FaceBook and looking for me. I must admit it puzzles me since some are old love interests and to see what they look like some 10-15 years later… Good thing they do not know the existence of this blog either! :-)

It’s getting late and I have lost track of time. I better stop here so I am able to post this before going home.

Till then…
